16th Annual Mt. Washington Radio Food Drive Huge Success
North Conway, NH -The 16th annual Mount Washington Radio Food Drive was a huge success. The live radio broadcast took place at the First church of Christ Congregational for 12 hours on 93.5 WMWV, Magic 104.5, and Easy 95.3 as they collect frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items to be distributed across the various Mount Washington Valley Food Pantries.
Things started on a great note with Stan Szetela dropping off the first big batch of birds handing in 77 turkeys. Soon after his long time turkey donation rival Buzz Coleman brought in 70 turkeys. However Infinger Insurance took the cake, or Thanksgiving pie, when it came to large Turkey drop offs delivering a whopping 100 Turkeys! In total an impressive 513 frozen turkeys were collected just 32 shy of last year’s record of 545 birds. The stations also collected $4,100 in monetary donations and collected hundreds of of non-perishable food items.
The turkeys and non-perishables were quickly organized and shipped out, thanks to a multitude of volunteers. They are now at the many food pantries across the valley ready to be enjoyed next week.

Annual Food Drive Coming Up Tomorrow!
The annual Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Food Drive is coming right up on Wednesday, November 15, and we’re hoping to see you there!
How can you get involved? It’s easy! Just swing by the First Church of Christ (2503 White Mountain Highway) with a non-perishable item anytime from 6am-6pm…you don’t even need to get out of your car! Canned foods, spaghetti sauces, pasta, mac n’ cheese, peanut butter, muffin and cake mixes, crackers…these are just a few ideas and all will be accepted to go to a good cause. Household items are always welcomed too including toilet paper, paper towels and toothpaste. AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE FROZEN TURKEYS!

Barn At Former Stafford’s In The Field Destroyed By Fire
Chocorua, NH – A fire destroyed a Barn at the Old Brass Heart Inn in Chocorua last night. At around 10 o’clock Fire officials responded to what is now the Preserve at Chocurua on Philbrick Neighborhood Road for a fire that rapidly rose to three alarms. According to reports at least 8 town fire crews responded including Tamworth, Conway Village, Freedom, Center Ossipee, and Moultonboro.
Authorities said that the barn was a total loss however they were able to protect the Inn from any fire damage. The occupants of the Inn are safe and unharmed according to reports.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but officials said they believe the blaze started at the rear of the building. The barn was used as an event venue so no animals were put in harms way.
Preserve at Chocorua is a renowned event venue throughout the region and was formally known as the Old Brass Heart Inn and the Stafford’s in the Field before that.
Milton Police Close Down Road To Search For Shooting Suspect
Milton, NH – A road in Milton was closed and residents ordered to shelter in place Sunday. Milton Police said that in the early afternoon Sunday they received a report that a hunter near Mason Road was shot at.
According to a post on the Milton Police Facebook page the hunter reported 5 shots being fired in his direction, and when he yelled another bullet was fired striking a tree in close proximity to the hunter.
Due to the unknown location of the shooter the assistance of the Strafford County Regional Tactical Operations Unit was called to extract the hunter out of the woods and attempt to locate and apprehend the shooter.
Milton Police Chief Richard Krauss said the hunter was not hurt. Residents of Mason road were told to stay inside with their doors locked, but that order was lifted by Sunday night.
Police searched a residence at 100 Mason road for the suspect, but were unable to locate the shooter.
In the post police said that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the residents of Milton.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and ask that anyone with information regarding vehicles or suspicious activity in the area of Mason Rd on November 5,2017 between 12pm and 3pm call the Milton Police 603-652-4500
Crews Continue To Clean Up From October Storm
!UPDATE! River Road in Conway is now open.
Conway, NH – Authorities from multiple agencies across Coos and Carroll County continue the clean up of Mother Nature’s pre-Halloween trick today. High winds knocked out power for thousands and pouring rains flooded roads and homes.
Conway Police posted on their Facebook page last night that Westside Road, Passaconaway road, and Kearsarge Road are now open. Residents on Kearsarge may still experience phone line issues, which are scheduled to be repaired today.
Bartlett Police reported that Bear Notch Road, Beaver Dam Road, Waterfront Road, and Sleepy Hollow are closed. Authorities also said Route 302 in Harts Location (4th Iron – Dry River) is closed and is expected to be closed for an extended amount of time.
River Street is down to one lane and no vehicles large than pick-up trucks are allowed on it.
US Route 302 between Patch’s Market and Jericho Rd. has reopened but officials say drivers should use caution due to a narrow roadway and sharp drop offs. Police also said in a Facebook post that Truckers and those looking to travel towards VT and Canada should use NH Route 16 to US Route 2.
As of 5pm last night Eversource reported that 35,500 members remained without power throughout the state, down from a peak of 52,000 members. Eversource Spokesman Seth Wheeler said the majority of restorations yesterday came as a result of transmission lines being restored to substations in Center Harbor, Moultonborough and Thornton. Wheeler said they are receiving assistance from New York crews. Adding that members without power should expect to be without power at least overnight and possibly for the next several days.
New Hampshire Electric Cooperative each reported 27,152 members remained without power down from the over 52,000 who were powerless yesterday. They Noted on their Facebook that they will have an update for customers at around 8 o’clock this morning.
Both providers said they expect to have high-level estimated times of restoration available by late this afternoon. However those estimates will be per region and not street by street.
According to outage maps around 500 Conway residents, about 1,000 Ossipee residents, 1,000 Madison residents, and around 500 Freedom residents remain Powerless as of 7am Tuesday.
