November 24-26: 3rd Annual Festival of Trees

The 3rd Annual Festival of Trees at the Journey Church will be the perfect start of your Christmas Season with the family and friends. November 24: Berlin Parade of Lights.

November 25:  Annual Great Glen Trails Craft Fair.

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – The aroma of freshly baked goodies and a craft raffle will welcome shoppers at the door. Local and regional crafters and artisans will take over the base lodge and are spread out on all three floors.  Look for Woodworking, photography, knitting, specialty soaps and lotions, jewelry, wreaths, and much more—including live demonstrations. November 25: Santa’s First Visit To See All The Children.

4:30 – 6:00pm – Meet at the Jackson Village Gazebo located on Black Mountain Road, Route 16B in Jackson Village and all children and even mom and dad can sit with santa in the sleigh and tell him what they would like for Christmas. Santa will have his elves give each child either a cookie or a special candy cane. FREE to all.

November 25: Old Fashioned Christmas

  •  4:30 pm – Caroling at Schouler Park starting at 4:30 pm presented by Da Capo. Children will receive a Golden Ticket for a chance to help Santa light the 60 foot tree!

  •  At 5:00pm – Santa will arrive at Schouler Park for the official tree lighting and will choose a child to help light the tree.

  •  From 5:30-5:50pm – There will be a holiday “Parade of Carols” from the North End of Norcross Circle to the Eastern Slope Inn on White Mountain Highway (Rt.16).

  •  6:00 pm – Visitors are encouraged to follow Santa down Main Street for 2 blocks to the Eastern Slope Inn Resort for the resort lighting at 6pm. Santa will be stopping at the North Conway Library to pick up his book “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Afterward, Santa will read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served to all in attendance. Multiple readings will be offered to accommodate event attendees.  Children can meet Santa and share with him what they would like for Christmas.

  •  6:00-8:00 pm – The Mt. Washington Observatory Weather Discovery center will be open for attendees during Santa’s reading. Located directly across from the Eastern Slope Playhouse. Experience the wonders of Mount Washington’s 6,288 feet of awe and wonder!

November 26: Jackson Christmas Tree Lighting.

4:30 pm – This is truly your quintessential New England Village Christmas Tree Lighting… Co-sponsored by the Christmas Farm Inn & Spa who generously hosts a gathering at their “Barn” where you can enjoy hot chocolate, cider, treats and a cash bar for mom and dad. Cranmore Kicks Of 80th Season With Kearsarge Condo Phase 1 Completion

North Conway, NH  – State and local leaders gathered at Cranmore Mountain Resort today for an official ribbon cutting ceremony that marked the completion of Phase One of Cranmore’s $50 Million base area redevelopment project called Kearsarge Brook Condominiums at Cranmore. When completed, the six phase Master Plan will bring six new buildings, 106 year round residences and 45,000 square feet of new day lodge space to the resort.

Today’s ceremony recognized Phase One of Kearsarge Brook Condominiums which sits at the base of Cranmore’s South Slope, providing 18 two and three bedroom condominiums with easy access to the slopes and views of Cranmore and the surrounding White Mountains.

Cranmore President and General Manager Ben Wilcox kicked off the event by welcoming the crowd and acknowledging the completion of Phase One of Kearsarge Brook on the eve of the Resort’s 80th Anniversary. “We’ve been talking about Cranmore’s future, Kearsarge Brook, for the past few years, and today we can say this is Cranmore’s present.” Wilcox continued by outlining the larger picture plan of the project which is to make Kearsarge Brook a trophy resort in New England. “Kearsarge Brook will heighten everything done at the mountain, and will set the table for the next 80 years to come.”

Special Assistant to Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Chuck Henderson, shared the Senator’s comments at today’s Ribbon Cutting. “Today’s ceremony marks a major step forward as you write the next chapter in Cranmore’s rich history. I would like to congratulate the folks at Cranmore, the Fairbank Group and all who came together to make this vision a reality.”

Joe Kenney, Executive Councilor, congratulated the resort and Fairbank Group on the completion of the first phase. “This particular project and future development is going to be a great addition to the ski industry and the state of New Hampshire,” he stated.

Dave Miller, President of Glen Builders – the project’s general contractor, stressed the local focus of the project, working with over 70 vendors and suppliers.

Cranmore owner, Brian Fairbank, who also operates Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Massachusetts and Bromley Mountain in Vermont, implemented a similar development at Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Fairbank had high praise for the team who completed the project. “With Kearsarge Brook, we’re going to do everything we can to preserve the character, but wanted to make sure what we did in this base area was unlike anything else in New England. Taking this base area and making it spectacularly beautiful, becomes an essential ingredient for us to say how we’re going to differentiate ourselves for the future. Kearsarge Brook is a symbol of that uniqueness.”

Phase One residences range from 1,220 to 1,695 square feet for the top floor Penthouse. Phase One owners will enjoy ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes as well as a variety of resort amenities, gated parking and private owners ski lockers. Milton Car Accident Kills Teen and Injures 4

 

Milton, NH – A car crash in Milton has left one teen dead and four others injured. According to Milton Police they were called to a car accident on Hare Road at 10:30 yesterday morning. When Police and fire crews arrived they found a severely damaged Toyota Camry with 3 occupants inside and 2 occupants who had been ejected from the vehicle.

One 16-year-old child who was ejected from the vehicle died at the scene. The other four occupants were taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Milton Police Department with the assistance of the Strafford County TAR team.

Authorities ask that anyone with information on the crash or who may have witnessed the Toyota Camry driving on Hare Road around the time of the accident call the Milton Police Department at 603-652-4500 and asked to speak with Officer Nicholas Nirgianakis.

16th Annual Mt. Washington Radio Food Drive Huge Success

North Conway, NH -The 16th annual Mount Washington Radio Food Drive was a huge success. The live radio broadcast took place at the First church of Christ Congregational for 12 hours on 93.5 WMWV, Magic 104.5, and Easy 95.3 as they collect frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items to be distributed across the various Mount Washington Valley Food Pantries.

Things started on a great note with Stan Szetela dropping off the first big batch of birds handing in 77 turkeys. Soon after his long time turkey donation rival Buzz Coleman brought in 70 turkeys. However Infinger Insurance took the cake, or Thanksgiving pie, when it came to large Turkey drop offs delivering a whopping 100 Turkeys! In total an impressive 513 frozen turkeys were collected just 32 shy of last year’s record of 545 birds. The stations also collected $4,100 in monetary donations and collected hundreds of of non-perishable food items.

The turkeys and non-perishables were quickly organized and shipped out, thanks to a multitude of volunteers. They are now at the many food pantries across the valley ready to be enjoyed next week.

Annual Food Drive Coming Up Tomorrow!

The annual Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Food Drive is coming right up on Wednesday, November 15, and we’re hoping to see you there!

imag0850Now in it’s 16th year, the Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Annual Food Drive  showcases what living in the Mount Washington Valley is all about – community goodwill and service.  Held at the First Church of Christ in North Conway (across from Assets Jean Co.), this one-day, 12-hour event helps collect food for area food pantries benefiting those in need during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year. Many different pantries in the Greater Mount Washington Valley will see donations from the drive helping those less fortunate in their communities.

How can you get involved? It’s easy! Just swing by the  First Church of Christ (2503 White Mountain Highway) with a non-perishable item anytime from 6am-6pm…you don’t even need to get out of your car! Canned foods, spaghetti sauces, pasta, mac n’ cheese, peanut butter, muffin and cake mixes, crackers…these are just a few ideas and all will be accepted to go to a good cause. Household items are always welcomed too including toilet paper, paper towels and toothpaste. AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE FROZEN TURKEYS!

Barn At Former Stafford’s In The Field Destroyed By Fire

Chocorua, NH – A fire destroyed a Barn at the Old Brass Heart Inn in Chocorua last night. At around 10 o’clock Fire officials responded to what is now the Preserve at Chocurua on Philbrick Neighborhood Road for a fire that rapidly rose to three alarms. According to reports at least 8 town fire crews responded including Tamworth, Conway Village, Freedom, Center Ossipee, and Moultonboro.

Authorities said that the barn was a total loss however they were able to protect the Inn from any fire damage. The occupants of the Inn are safe and unharmed according to reports.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but officials said they believe the blaze started at the rear of the building. The barn was used as an event venue so no animals were put in harms way.

Preserve at Chocorua is a renowned event venue throughout the region and was formally known as the Old Brass Heart Inn and the Stafford’s in the Field before that.
